One of the biggest events to hit High River is back in September.

Roger Hamel with the River City Classics says they've got big plans for this year's Show and Shine, starting with the night before Saturday, September 24.

"We're doing the bur out again on Saturday night before the car show so we're looking forward to that, we're in the process of organizing that, we have our insurance in place, we're working with the Town, they've been fantastic to work with, so we're going back to the Saturday night burn out and the Sunday car show."

The car show has at times had more than 1,200 vehicles registered.

Once again this year the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society is helping to organize the event.

"This year I am chairing the car show so I've got my hands in sort of every pot and trying to help out where ever I can, make sure everything's running smooth and just helping where ever I'm needed," said Tracy Cuffe of FFAS.

While this is the 18th annual Show and Shine, it's being re-dedicated to honour long-time volunteer and supporter Brian Chipchase.

"We depended on Brian to do all those little things that you don't realize get done, and unfortunately in the last year we lost Brian, it was unanimous in our discussion that this was going to become the First Annual Brian Chipchase Memorial car show," says Roger Hamel. "Brian was the epitome of volunteering, he was always there and always could be depended on, no doubt about it. This is our way of paying tribute."

The event goes Sunday, September 25.
