The Calgary Stampeders swung a deal with the Saskatchewan Roughriders Wednesday that will help bolster both clubs.

The Stamps sent Kicker Tyler Crapigna to the Riders in exchange for running back Jerome Messam.

A seven-year CFL veteran, Messam currently sits second in the CFL rushing race with 826 yards, just 40 yards back of BC's Andrew Harris, and is averaging 6.1 yards a carry.

He has two rushing touchdowns and also has 47 receptions for 464 yards.

In seven seasons BC, Edmonton, Montreal and Saskatchewan, Messam has 586 carries for 3,090 yards and 14 touchdowns and 126 catches for 1,296 yards.

The draft pick acquired by the Stamps originally belonged to Montreal and was acquired by Saskatchewan earlier in the day in a deal that sent Kevin Glenn to the Alouettes.

Crapigna was a fifth-round selection by the Stampeders in the 2014 draft.

He did not see any regular-season action with the Red and White.

The Stamps face the the Toronto Argonauts Saturday afternoon at Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton.
