This Weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Strathmore Parade and Stampede.

                                              (Centennial Park in Nanton.)

I was in the Town of Strathmore on Saturday, July 30th in celebration of their Stampede Days.

I started off my morning in the very impressive Strathmore Parade, a parade I remember attending as a young child.

The Parade was very well attended and it covered all the major parts of the Town.

Following that, I headed over to the Strathmore Rodeo Grounds and stayed on the grounds until the late afternoon.

The Strathmore Stampede has a very similar feeling of excitement as the Calgary Stampede.

The Grandstand was packed and there were plenty of vendors located through the grounds.

I look forward to this event next year as I felt like I was reliving the Calgary Stampede all over again, but without the big hit to the pocketbook.

On Monday, I was in the Town of Nanton for their famous Round Up Days.

The day started with their Annual Parade that had a very friendly small town twist.

The organizers of this parade did a great job as all of the floats were very well decorated and everyone had lots of enthusiasm.

Following the parade the children of Nanton confirmed the success of the event, as their buckets were overflowing with candy.

Then, I located myself in between The Bomber Command Museum Of Canada and Centennial Park so I could interact with all the crowds.

Centennial Park had a Children’s Fair taking place that included a barbeque, face painting, a petting zoo, and plenty of bouncy castles.

Altogether, the people of Nanton and visitors from near and far had plenty to do throughout Heritage Day.

The Lancaster Engine was revved up at 2pm and attracted a large crowd, as it always does.

Finally, I had a lovely chat with a couple from Calgary who told me that they are so impressed by Nanton Round Up Days that they never miss a year!

Altogether, August Long Weekend is always an eventful one when spent in the Foothills!
