Maui has been a honeymoon and vacation mecca for many in southern Alberta.

However, a large part of it has been almost totally destroyed by wildfires.

Samaritan's Purse is on the ground with over 17 tonnes of emergency relief equipment and volunteers for the Lahania region.

Disaster relief specialists have been on the ground for over a week, assessing people's needs and coordinating with authorities.

Samaritan's Purse volunteers will, over the coming days, sift through the ashes of the devastated area looking for mementos and items that may have survived the inferno.

To support the group's work there you can go to SamaritansPurse.ca or call 1-800-663-6500.
