The Foothills Rural Crime Watch Association came away from their private meeting with Alberta Justice Minister Doug Schweitzer Tuesday, October 1, fairly happy with his plan for rural crime issues.

Association President Don Larson says Schweitzer paid close attention to their concerns.

"The Justice Minister was extremely responsive. Very engaged, willing to listen and was very positive."

Larson, says he's sure more money and resources will be coming our way.

"I'm confident we're going to see maybe, not the adoption of everything we asked for or recommended, but we're going to see a lot of positive things coming forward."

Larson says he believes the Province will very quickly pump more money into extra prosecutors and policing for rural areas throughout Alberta.

In fact the Province announced Thursday, October 3, they're going to fund 50 new Crown Prosecutors which they say in a release will be tougher on criminal behaviour.
