The Okotoks Oilers made some changes in their front office as training camp began this past weekend.

The team announced that former Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager Brad Robson would take over as President of Business and Hockey Operations.

Robson also scouted in the NHL and WHL for over 21 years and will continue in those roles in his new position.

He says he's excited about the opportunity to come to the Oilers.

"I contacted Wayne (Lauinger) probably three weeks ago, he said that they (Oilers) were looking for someone to take the presidency over," he says. " I met with Wayne and discussed the position as President of hockey operations and business operations side, probably about four or five days ago we came to a verbal agreement and a contract."

As Robson gets comfortable into his new role he will be working alongside Head Coach James Poole in recruiting, scouting and other hockey business, but says the coach will still be managing his team.

"James is the General Manager," Robson says. "If any questions he has, you know my 21 years in the national hockey league and the western hockey league, my experience if he needs any help, I'll be there for him mentoring and helping out on the hockey side because that is my strength."

The Oilers will be focusing on a new identity this coming season and will be a very young team and Robson says he's on board with the team's direction.

"The young players are really good players, I like the speed, the work ethic and the character they're bringing," he says. "I think a lot of these young guys are going to push the older players. In saying that though, a lot of our older players I like the experience and the leadership they're showing downstairs."

As for President Wayne Lauinger's position goes, he'll now be the Team President and President of the Board of Directors.
