It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Bowers Suitor after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 55. He is survived by his loving wife Paulette, his daughter Tanya (Joel) Long of Calgary, Step Sons Derek (Lenka) Broda of Ottawa and Nathan Broda (Stephanie Price) of Calgary as well as his four grandchildren, Jillian Long, Benjamin Long, Taylor Broda and Avery Broda.

Robert was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Mary Suitor; brother Sam Suitor; sister Eileen Yates and sister-in-law Maureen Suitor.  Rob leaves to mourn his passing, his brother Joe (Selma) Suitor; Dennis (Darlene) Suitor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rob had a larger than life personality that touched everyone he met.  His remarkable adventures and subsequent stories were always entertaining and never needed any embellishment.  Family and friends were extremely important to him.  He loved to laugh and make people laugh.  He was never afraid to strike up a conversation and loved to share his advice with anyone who would listen.

Rob had a great love of the outdoors and spent many hours guiding on the Bow and fly fishing with so many of his friends.  When he could no longer pilot the river with his drift boat, he bought a boat for the lake and named it Family Matters.   He spent countless hours making sure everyone had a chance to go for a ride.

The last few years Rob also found a true love for camping and could hardly wait for the camping season so he could spend time with Paulette and their three dogs enjoying the summer months. He never failed to meet a new friend at every campground they visited.

The light of Robs life were truly his grandchildren.  Rob never missed an opportunity to tell you about their latest accomplishments.  He was so proud of "his Jillian" and never wanted to miss Bens hockey games during the winter months.  Last January he had the chance to take them to Disneyland where they spent seven magical days and the memories that were made will live on in their hearts forever.  With his grandchildren Taylor and Avery living in Ottawa, visits were more limited due to the distance, but he was adamant that it was quality over quantity that mattered.

The family would like to express a sincere heartfelt thank you to the incredible people who work at the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic and those at the Foothills Hospital.  It takes a special group of people to be able to do what they do every day and provide the compassionate care that was always given to Rob and his immediate family.  A special thank you to those people near and far who sent their prayers and thoughts during our familys difficult time.

In lieu of flowers donations would be greatly appreciated to the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic, 1331 -29th Street NW, Calgary, AB  T2N 4N2.

A Celebration of Rob's Life will be held on Monday, March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the High River United Church, 123 Macleod Trail South.
