Alberta Environment is making sure coalbed methane drilling won't affect rural water wells.
In May, companies began testing water wells near new drilling sites.
Alberta Environment's Kim McLeod says they have now set up an independant panel of scientists to analyse those tests.
She says they have a base standard in base requiring the company to provide information to them.
Now consultants will analyse the information..
McLeod adds so far, they have received over 250 results back, and the panel will meet for the first time in November to analyse them.
