The Province is talking tough when it comes to possibly getting rid of photo radar.

Transportation Minister Ric McIver and Justice Minister Doug Schweitzer will make an announcement Tuesday, November 26 regarding the future of the highly unpopular method of catching speeders and other moving violations.

They say it's cash grab and will give Cities and Town's who use it, one year to prove it makes roads safer and not just a revenue generator, or they're going to get rid of it.

The pair say they'll head out to talk to local government's, police and the public to get their feedback on photo radar before making their decision.

But Schweitzer makes no bones about saying the burden of proof will be on those claiming the technology makes roads safer, versus being a money making machine.
