Nanton RCMP are investigating a stabbing that left one person dead and three other victims in hospital.

They were called Tuesday December 27th after a report of a stabbing at a home in the town.

Emergency crews located several individuals suffering from injuries. 

One of the victims, identified as a 54-year-old Nanton resident, was deceased. 

Three other victims as well as the suspect were transported to hospital with injuries.

The Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.

RCMP have charged 45-year-old Ryan Kelly Sutherland, a resident of Nanton, with second-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault and failure to comply with release conditions.

Sutherland has been remanded in custody with his next court date set for January 4, 2023, at Fort Macleod Provincial Court.
