Jacked up, stripped down, chromed up and here to shine.

The Okotoks Kinsmen Show and Shine will make its return Sunday, Aug 21.

Like always, the show and shine is for the community says organizer and chair of the show Krystof Lindenback.

"We've sponsored a number of things over the last 12 months. When other organizations didn't have the money we were able to do it because we hold events like this. The community comes out and supports us so we support it."

They will have 50/50 through RaffleBox and QR codes located all around the downtown core with all the money going back into the community. Lindenback is hoping to exceed $20,000 through sales and the online 50/50 which will be given back throughout the coming months to various organizations and charities.

They are keeping a similar theme as last year's show with a music stage, beer gardens and the popular Kids Zone.

"Last year we added the element of a kids zone. A fun zone that was run by Spectacle Blue here in town, and that element really was a game changer in terms of making it a family outing. We've really tried to focus on bringing families down and families, you know, because there is a free event, there is no charge to come and see the cars, but there's also entertainment."

He credits their main sponsors for bringing this year's show to life again as well as the support from the town.

"You know the town's been amazing to work with like Jeanette and Connie at event planning. As well, culture and heritage have been incredible to work with.

"All the usuals are back. High River Toyota will be there this year. We're very happy to have Fish Racing back there as a major sponsor. Okotoks GM has again stepped up as our platinum sponsor. They bring the latest and greatest and of course Rory (Wood) from Woodridge and now Okotoks VW. I'm not sure what he’s going to bring. With Rory, there's always an element of surprise."

Currently close to 90 cars have preregistered but as the day gets closer and the forecast opens up Lindenback expects that number to jump to the hundreds.

What is he excited about?

"The late 30s, early 40s. Those are the Chicago Gangster-style cars. That's my jam so I like that. That's what I'm excited for but Okotoks always has such a wide variety of cars that show up."

The show kicks off at 11 a.m. with awards presented at 3:30 p.m. on the main stage at the Elks Hall. Merchandise will be available all day.

Taking over the downtown core they will be closing Elizabeth, McRae and North Railway Street.
