What's an ultra-marathoner to do during a pandemic?

Set up an endurance run from home attracting some of the most elite distance runners in the world that's what.

Okotoks Dave Proctor and a few thousand of his closest friends from around the world are right in the middle of the "Quarantine Backyard Ultra."

It's something Proctor thought up so he could keep training for his Trans-Canada speed record attempt, that he was supposed to do next month, but has been put off by the pandemic.

Proctor and the rest can run on a treadmill, or in their backyards, completing a 6.7 kilometre "loop" every hour.

If they finish early, they can relax until the bell goes to signal the start of the next lap.

If runners don't finish the "loop" in an hour they're out of the race.

The winner is the one who goes the longest.

So far they're three days in, with no clear winner in sight.
