The Okotoks Oilers can put another win on the books after Friday night's win against the Olds Grizzlys at Pason Centennial arena.

The Oilers 5-4 win over the Grizzlys leave the Oilers with a 7 and 1 record.

The hometown team came out of the gate slower than preferred, but that has been something that they have been doing all season.

Oilers forward Tanner Laderoute says that it is something the team has to work on going forward in the season.

"It is going to come back and bite us if we don't figure out a way to start strong, but even with that it is great that we keep finding a way to regroup and come back flying."

Laderoute scored a short-handed goal in the second period with Nolan Thompson notching another shortie in the third.

Laderoute says that those short-handed goals can be a game changer for any team.

"A lot of teams are a little lazier when it comes to their power play and coming back, so if you can pressure them and score on a power play then it kills all their confidence."

The Oilers host the Brooks Bandits Saturday night at 7:00.

They have met twice before this season with the Bandits coming out on top both times.

Ladderoute says that while so far this season the Oilers have had the Bandits number that can always change if they don't stay sharp and focused.

"We need to tighten up our defensive zone and make sure that we are in the right zone."

And you will want to get there a bit earlier than usual for the game as some parking areas are closed off as construction on the twinning of the arena is getting set to start.
