The Okotoks Oilers (9-14-1) dropped to fifth place in the AJHL South on Friday night after a 3-1 loss to the host Canmore Eagles.

Despite outshooting their opponents 37-25, the Oilers fell for their fourth straight game, dropping one point behind the Eagles in the divisional standings.

A defensive zone turnover by the Oilers led to the only goal of the first, a Vincent Scott wrister from the slot at the 15:10 mark.

Okotoks tied it 8:50 into the 2nd when Kade Turner’s backhander deflected off goalie Matthew Malin and in, but Canmore went back up 2-1 on an Evan Waldie goal at 11:35.

The only goal of the third came on the opening shift when Isaac Suppin scored on a breakaway 20 seconds in.Parker Sawka (Cochrane, AB) stopped 22 of 25 shots while Malin stopped 36 of 37.

The Oilers return home to take on the Olds Grizzlys on Saturday night at Pason Centennial Arena.
