The 2nd annual Hockey Game for Mental Health is set for this Tuesday at the Centennial arena.

The Okotoks Oilers have partnered with the Foothills School Division and Minds Matter.

Wellness coach for Minds Matter Cortney Vines is pretty excited about the day for her and fellow colleague Teresa Ferrario, Manager of Minds Matter to share their message about positive mental health with the students.

Vines said the Centennial arena will be packed with about 850 students from across the division.

"We're going to put 850 students into the stands so it's all Foothill School Division students, so we've got kids coming from Blackie, High River, Black Diamond or Diamond Valley, Okotoks, Red Deer Lake, we've got ten schools in total coming."

Vines also shared that it's about positive mental health and not about mental illness and they'll be sharing their information with the students during the 1st and 2nd period intermissions.

"We will be on the jumbotron talking about our mental health, what it looks like to have positive mental health, why it's so important to talk about our mental health and we have some real talk from the players talking about that as well."

Vines thanked Tyler King and the Oilers organization for working together to make this happen again this year.

And the Oilers have lined up a great game too as the Brooks Bandits will be their opponents.

It's an early start time of 11:00 a.m. so the students can enjoy the entire experience during regular school hours.
