The Town of Okotoks has landed another major curling event as they'll host the 2020 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Curling Club Manager, Mike Libbus, says they're going to move into the Murray Arena for it instead of holding it at the Okotoks Curling Club, like they did the last time it was in town back in 1998.

"We've worked together with the Town and we're going to take over the Murray (Arena) for about nine days and transform it into a curling club. Because we believe the top players in Alberta, which are definitely some of the top players in the world deserve to play on arena ice and under arena conditions. Puts on a better show for our spectators and we're really looking forward to it."

Libbus says planning is already well underway.

"We've designed the facility, we've started selling early bird tickets to our members. Pretty soon we'll do a little promotion here and start selling tickets to the public. Tickets we expect will go fast, so we're hoping everybody gets in quick and gets a spot so we can get everybody in there that we can."

He says tickets aren't on sale yet, but he says they should be in the next couple of weeks.

The Alberta Scotties runs Wednesday, January 22 to Sunday, January 26.
