The Okotoks Oilers are at the top of the heap in the Alberta Junior Hockey League as they head down the stretch of the regular season.

But they're not taking anything for granted with eight games left, all against South Division teams.

Coach, Tyler Deis, says the Oilers need to just keep doing what they've been doing.

"You know it's going to be tough going down. Our schedules pretty tough going down, we're playing a lot of good teams here and stuff. So, just having that consistency in your game and stuff and you know, hopefully good things happen."

The Oilers still have a couple of games against the Brooks Bandits coming up.

Deis, says despite his teams recent success against them, the Bandits aren't going to roll over.

"Our last game that we played against them, it was a tight game. You know, to be honest with you they kind of held on a bit too much in the third period. But they're going to come. They're one of the best organizations in Canada and 100 per cent, they're going to be coming hard against us."

The Oilers and Canmore Eagles play a home and home series this weekend, starting Friday, February 7 in Okotoks and winding up Saturday, February 8 in Canmore.
