The Okotoks Oilers got the win they wanted over the Calgary Canucks as they took them to school with a 6-2 win Thursday night at the Centennial Arena.

Matt McNair led the way for the Oilers with a pair of goals in the first and second periods.

Reece Soukoroff got the winner for the Oilers 1:23 into the second period, while Danton Davis, Jordie Lawson and Tanner Schachle got the other goals for the Oilers.

The big difference in this one was the shots, with the Oilers peppering Canucks goalie Logan Drackett with 31 shots, while the Oilers Riley Morris only faced 12 through 60 minutes.

The two teams are right back at it Friday night for game two in the best of five opening round series starting at 7 o'clock in Okotoks.
