The Okotoks Oilers kick off the month the December the same way they lived November... on the road.

It's the last North Division road trip of the 2016-17 season for the Oilers for a pair of games between the Drayton Valley Thunder Friday night and Sherwood Park Crusaders Saturday.

Away from Pason Centennial Arena the Oilers are 8-5-4 on the season and shut out the Thunder at home November 25 3-0.

Defenceman Carson Beers they'll need to get off to another good start to make it two in a row against the Thunder.

"A complete 60 goes a long way in this league," he says. "Coming out every game playing a full 60 minute effort will give you a good chance to win and hopefully we can do that."

The Oilers have won three of their last four games including Tuesday night's 6-1 thrashing of the Calgary Mustangs.

Beers says despite facing a Thunder team in the North Division's basement they can't overlook them.

"Sherwood Park has picked up a lot of good players, they're goaltending has gotten better too so it's going to be tough game but you can't look over Drayton Valley as well the first game of weekend we got to get our boots going and play hard."

As the Oilers head into the final month of 2016 Beers says they've been keeping it simple in what has been a lot of time away from the rink.

"We've been doing five game segments so it's been really easy for us to go into hopefully round one of the playoffs that we got go in and win those and go from there."

Puck drop Friday is 7:30 at the Drayton Valley Omniplex.

The next Oilers home game will be Tuesday night when it's the Camrose Kodiaks making their way to Pason Centennial Arena.
