Vern Nolin beat out High River's Jason Glass, along with reigning High River Champ, Kurt Bensmiller and Kirk Sutherland to claim the $50,000 "Dash for Cash" final Monday, July 2, at the Ponoka Stampede.

Nolin says it's a huge deal.

"The Ponoka Stampede and the Calgary Stampede are very comparable and I'm pretty sure it's every drivers dream to win one of these, so it was our turn I guess."

Glass, coming off barrel two, finished just four/tenths of a second back of Nolin.

Okotoks Mark Sutherland had the second fastest time of the day, while High River's Jordie Fike was 15th and Okotoks Dayton Sutherland was 20th.

Next up, 10 days of racing at the Calgary Stampede's Rangeland Derby starting Friday, July 6.
