High River remains at 29 active cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday's update, with one more case in Okotoks bringing the town to 64, and Vulcan County dropping to 25, 5 less than the day before.

An increase of three active cases brings the Black Diamond/Turner Valley region to 17, and one additional active case in the Claresholm area has them sitting at six.

Across the province, 1270 new cases were reported following over 17,500 tests.

16 additional fatalities were reported, with 760 Albertans now having lost their lives.

During the update, Dr. Hinshaw reminded Albertans to continue making an effort to curb the spread even after the arrival of the vaccine.

"Every death is a reminder that we must reduce the spread as quickly as possible. It is a sobering statistic that in less than 10 months, more Albertans have now died from COVID-19 than have died from influenza in the last 10 years combined."

749 people are being treated in hospital, 139 of whom are in intensive care.
