Nelson, Roy Arnold
May 19, 1933 – August 21, 2013

Roy Arnold Nelson born May 19, 1933 in High River, Alberta and passed away August 21, 2013 at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary at the age of 80 years. He is survived by one sister Rita (Stan) Fisher of Pincher Creek, Alberta, one brother Warren (Rae) Nelson of Winnipeg, Manitoba, one sister-in-law, Wilma Nelson of High River, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by three children David Nelson of Cayley, AB, Cindy (Clarke) Peterson, of Osoyoos, BC, and Sandy (Myke) Antaloczy of Golden, BC.   Roy had 8 Grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren. Roy was pre-deceased by his wife Vivian and two brothers Leonard and Vern Nelson.  Roy had a good life growing up in the Meadowbank Community.  Later moving to Didsbury, AB, where he worked for the Department of Highways.  Now with wife and 3 children, he moved his family to High River, where he began his career, working for the town of High River, Alberta.  Roy worked his way from the bottom up.  With a shovel all the way to town foreman.  He served the community with pride and dedication for 31 years.  After retiring, he continued to work for Environment Canada another 10 years. When he finally decided he would retire to the farm at Cayley, where he loved to be. Roy took pleasure with his wife , Vivian playing Old Time music for dances held in the Memorial Center in High River with "The Jorstad Orchestra" for many years.

We will all miss him here.  Until we meet again.  Always remembered.
