The Highwood Mustangs kick off their regular season Friday afternoon, as the Willow Creek Cobras out of Claresholm come to town.

After disappointing season, the Mustangs are hoping to improve under Brian Branford, who returns as head coach, taking over for Bill Young.

Young remains with the team as an assistant coach.

Game time is 4:30 p.m. at Highwood High School.

In other local football action, the Holy Trinity Academy Knights lost 7-0 to Chinook Thursday night to open their regular season.
