Vimy Ridge happened on Easter Weekend April 9th 1917 at the local time of 5:30am in the morning.

What transpired at Vimy would be a part of a number of battles that Canadian Troops would be a

part of.  Vimy itself sent a first wave of 15,000 - 20,000 Canadian soldiers, many hauling equipment,

and artilery through snow and lousy conditions.  They were marching right in to enemy gun fire and

many would be lost.

Casualties were high but the soldiers proceeded.  Most of the ridge was captured that day by noon.

The main part of the hill was taken on April 10th. Germans eventually retreated and The Battle of Vimy

ridge was over.

This weekend The High River Legion will salute all veterans with their lunch planned for Sunday.

Nanton Legion #80 will have a service "Remembering the Battle of Vimy Ridge

1917 - 2017"  at the cenotaph in front of Bomber Command Museum in Nanton,

on SUNDAY, April 9 at 1:45 p.m.

Cake and hot beverages in the Museum after 2:30 p.m.

Have a great weekend while remembering those who served and made our land FREE!
