The Holy Trinity Academy Knights will be looking for their first win of the season Friday night when they head into Medicine Hat to battle the Mohawks.

HTA is coming off a 24-16 loss to the Catholic Central Cougars last week in week one of high school football action.

Head Coach Matt Hassett says they stayed with the Cougars being tied 10-10 at halftime but just couldn't put it together in the 2nd half.

"The offence moved the ball well a couple times but the big thing was penalties on both sides of the ball," he says. "We can't take penalties and expect to win close games like that."

The Mohawks are ranked tenth in the provincial Tier II rankings coming in and Hassett says if they can shut down their running game they've got a good chance at coming out on top.

"They usually like to pound the ball in between the tackles so we're looking to stop their running game and force them to pass and if we do that I think we'll be in pretty good shape."

It is early in the season but Hassett has seen quite a few bright spots in his line-up from three year veterans to the rookies.

"We only have nine seniors with a really good nucleus of grade 11s that are very talented and grade 10s and with the senior leadership we have it's been really great. It's been one of the best from spring camp to now, one of the best starts I think I've ever had since I've been here."

Kick-off is 7 p.m.
