It's continuing to be a busy summer for Okotoks musician Michela Sheedy, having performed several big shows, including at the Calgary Stampede, and most recently at K-Days in Edmonton on July 24th.

She performed as an opening act for Lonestar, an American country group whom Sheedy says she grew up listening to, and considers to be heroes of hers.

She says she was particularly honoured, as K-Days contacted her for the performance.

"K-Days reached out to me and said they needed an Alberta act to open for the band. They had sent the band of bunch of options, and they chose little old me, which was very flattering. Turned out to be a really amazing show!"

Being a professional musician, Sheedy says she often has to create opportunities for herself, so cases such as this are always welcome; especially in the more hectic summer months.

"This is the busiest time of the year for me; summer time is crazy. It's festival season, you've got people doing barbecues and bars having their patios that want entertainment, and then there's Stampede and K-Days and all these giant festivals that we're so lucky to have here in our province. It's my favourite time of the year. I don't get much sleep but it's definitely worth it."

She still has a busy couple of months ahead of her, having been selected as one of the Top 12 for Alberta Music's Project Wild 2019, and with several shows planned in and around the Foothills.
