Gordon Porter Marshall passed away at the High River Hospital on July
21, 2017 at the age of 88 years.

Gordon was born in Vulcan, AB on May 12, 1929. He was predeceased by his
first wife Vera (Popoff) in 1993, a sister Betty McKinnon in 1963, his
father Leslie in 1980 and his mother Della Poff in 2001.

Gordon is lovingly remembered by his wife Byrla (McMorris), sons David
(Maureen), Daniel (Barbara), Melvin (Elaine) and daughter Colleen
(Bruce) Herring, five grandchildren: Matts (Elena), Colina, Megan,
Spencer (Anaise); three Stepchildren: Clint (Rena) Armstrong, Shannon
(Doug) Kingsmith and Rodney (Marianne) Armstrong; seven
Step-grandchildren; Bradley (Crystal), Cody (Marissa), Shellah (Miles),
Ashley (Kalvin), Kimberly, Curtis (Shelby) and Kayla (Matts) as well as
six great-grandchildren.

Gordon was raised on a farm NE of Vulcan. He attended schools at Sunny
Lake, Vulcan and Milo. As a young man, he worked as a hired hand and
farmed with his dad. In 1952, Gordon married Vera Popoff from
Queenstown. They both worked for Jack Sutherland until 1955 when they
built a house in Calgary and raised their four children. Gordon worked
as a Driver Examiner until 1969. He then went into the Sporting Goods
business. This work took him to Italy, Germany and Holland. When he left
that, he was a successful Real Estate Agent until he retired in 1995.

Gordon moved to High River and he and Byrla opened a new chapter in
their lives together and were married in 1995. They experienced many
good times together. They took up golfing where they met many new
people. They also traveled a lot, including England, Scotland, Ireland,
Wales, Australia, New Zealand, a Tahitian cruise, Mexico and the Panama
Canal. They also drove across Canada and spent ten winters in Yuma, AZ.

They lived in High River until 2013 when they moved to Nanton. Gordon’s
passion for many years was coin collecting and had a large collection.
He also enjoyed playing cards and puttering with little projects but
most of all, he enjoyed being with his families.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the
High River Baptist Church (514160-121 Street East, High River), Pastor
Scott Fisk officiating. Interment Highwood Cemetery.
