The Okotoks Oilers are having a special guest for dinner.

Former NHL Goalie and Coach Clint Malarchuk.

Oilers President of Business and Hockey Operations, Brad Robson says Malarchuk has had an interesting, and at times tough life, which makes him a sought after inspirational speaker.

"You know he's had a documentary made about his life. And also there's a book "In the Crease" he and an author put together. He's very well known, with the problems he had as a youth, and playing in the National Hockey League and later. He's become probably one of the best dinner speakers in North America."

Robson, who's known both Clint, and his brother Garth for many years so one thing there won't be at the dinner is a shortage of stories, both good and bad, funny and sad from Malarchuk, who's best known for recovering from a horrific accident while playing for the Buffalo Sabres when he had his throat cut by an errant skate after a collision at the net, that nearly cost him his life.

Robson says he'll talk about that incident, along with others before during and after his career.

The annual Oilers fundraising dinner goes Thursday, June 23rd at the Foothills Centennial Centre.
