July 7, 1922 – April 7, 2018

Marjorie Agnes Lyon passed into the presence of her much-loved Lord and Savior on April 7, 2018, and the age of 95. She had been ill for over a month, and was longing to go “home” to heaven.

She was born Marjorie Agnes Robinson on July 7th, 1922, to Isabel (Watson) Robinson and Harold Elbert Robinson. Her family homesteaded south of Chinook, AB at the time. She lived there, growing up with her three brothers, Harold, Bert, and Jim, until they moved to the Cayley AB district some time after the death of their father. She was about 19 years old at that time.

She met her husband Russell Lorne Lyon in the Cayley district, and they were married January 20, 1944. Two sons were born to them, Lorne Kenneth in 1946 and Harvey Dwight in 1950. They continued to live and farm in that area until Russell's untimely passing in 1956. Marge stayed on the farm for awhile, eventually moving with her boys to Lethbridge AB to take a hairdressing course. She was unable to finish the course when she was called home to help take care of her mother. They returned to the farm at Cayley for the summer, and then bought a house in High River when it was time for the boys to start the new school year. Marge's mom moved with them, and as Grandma, she was always home for the boys when Marge wasn't.

They lived there for a period of two years, when Marge decided that she wanted to raise her boys on the farm, rented out her house and returned to the Cayley farm. She resided there until Lorne was married and took over the farm. She and Dwight rented another farmhouse not far from there, until she moved back into her house in High River.

She spent many years working at the High River Hospital as a Ward Aide and some time as a Unit Clerk until her retirement at the age of 65.

She found great enjoyment in being a helper or caregiver to as many people as needed her help, in any capacity that she could. Even when she would say grace before a meal, she would include “help us to remember the needs of others”.

She attended the High River Full Gospel Church for many years, and took part in all of their activities, helping out with any of the functions that occurred there. She definitely had a servants heart.

She eventually sold her house and moved into the Parkside Lodge in High River, until the flood of 2013. In July of 2013 she moved into the Lodge in Hanna, AB which was closer to her family. She lived there until the time of her passing.

She is survived by her two sons Lorne (Myrna) and Dwight (Wendy) of the Big Stone AB district, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of two more great-great-grandchildren, before she passed away. She is also survived by one brother Jim (Helen) of Nanton AB and one sister-in-law Loretta of Edmonton, AB.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell in 1956, her grandson Gregory in 2012, her brothers Harold and Bert, and sister-in-law Lila Robinson.

Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone for their friendship, loving and caring for Marge over the years. Her funeral was held in the church that she loved, the High River Full Gospel Church, at 2pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, with Pastors Dean Kennedy and John Lucas officiating.

If desired, Marjorie's choice for memorial donations would be to the High River Full Gospel Church at 1802 – 9 Ave SE, High River, AB. T1S 1A1, to aid with their Missions program.
