Multiple Foothills area fire departments responded to a fire Eden Valley early this morning.

Acting Deputy Fire Chief with the Okotoks Fire Department, Dave Hodgins, says the fire broke out at the water treatment plant at around 6 a.m.

"We responded a bush buggy and a tender unit to assist with the suppression of that fire and there were several other municipalities dispatched to assist as well."

Crews are still on scene, and Hodgins says the fire had spread significantly through the structure, though the full scope of the damage has yet to be determined.

Among the other fire departments who responded are Black Diamond, High River, and Foothills County.
