This year's Light Up High River Halloween contest was a howl.

It comes as no surprise the infamous Doll house was voted as High River's favourite, coming in first place, after seeing 669 trick-or-treaters.

Second place went to Tracy Wright and her Eerie Acres Cemetery, while third place went to the Bone Yard, by Sharon Remple.

In the Business Category, Fresh Air Furnace's Skeleton's and Grave's Galore took first place, The Graveyard is Rockin’ by Jo Merritt came in a close second, and third place went to Olive and Finch for Madame Olivia Finchworth’s Mystical Apothecary.

This was the third year of the competition which has been steadily increasing in size and notoriety.

There was 66 votes in total this year, which is up 10 percent from last year.

Organizer Lorraine Watson says she's grateful for all the participants.

"Please join us in exclaiming gasps, cries of terror and shout-outs for all Resident entries. Your handiwork or is that 'handlesswork' was incredible." she also adds "Let's give a round of screams, shrieks, and applause to all our businesses entries as well."

Watson says she's excited for the next round of competition, the Light Up High River Christmas Edition.

Registration for that will start in Mid November with kick-off on December 03.
