The annual Samaritan's Purse Campaign  - Operation Christmas Child has kicked off for 2016.

Local organizer/volunteer Jim Graham was in to tell us more details & the drop off location is the High River Alliance Church.

Heather and David Meszaros from High River also have first hand details for the shoeboxes as they took a trip to Costa Rica in March with the organization.

On the morning show today, Heather shared with us what it's like to see the kids get those boxes and the difference it makes in their life.  One of the translators even realized during the trip that she was the recipient of a shoebox when she was 5 years old.  She brought a "stuffie" in to show the group from Canada.  She shared that she even took it with her to University.

One tip Heather shared with us if you and your family are going to do one is to include a photo and letter.  The kids really like that. And toothbrushes are the most popular.

My son Kaiden and I are doing our annual Shoebox Challenge. If you would like to join us - join our facebook event page. We'd love you to share pics with us and have some fun.

If you want to hear more about Heather and David's trip you can pop into Sunlife Financial downtown High River to see more pics and get ideas for your shoebox.

Thanks Heather for sharing with us today!

We will learn more about what to put into your box when Frank King from Samaritan's Purse is on the show or head over to www.samaritanspurse.ca
