It's wasn't the way the Holy Trinity Academy Knights wanted to end their season last week but they're already looking to next year for their shot at redemption.

The Foothills Composite Falcons took the Big Rock Football League title 57-7 over the Knights Friday, October 28, ending their season abruptly.

Head Coach Matt Hassett says despite the season ending on a rough note, there's plenty of upside for 2017.

"We only have nine seniors so we actually are still a young team," he says. "The guys we're going to miss we're going to miss a lot but it's one of those things it's high school football you don't get to choice your players and get to hold on to them for ten years."

Hassett says the preparation for his returning players is already underway.

"Just start to get in the weight room and really committ ourselves in the offseason and go from there. Football is a tough sport to play, where you're training for nine to ten months a year to play just three months."

Hassett has quietly started to lay out next season's plan for the Knights, saying he's a got a nucleus of players who can go toe-to-toe with the Falcons.

"Going into next year we have a great core of young guys coming in to add to the players already here, so it's going to be a lot of fun trying to mold them into a team that can contend and go back against Foothills next year."

The Falcons will begin their road to the Tier II Provincial Finals when they face the Springbank Phoenix on Saturday, November 5 in Springbank.
