Three days of the Alberta Amateur Ladies Provincial Golf Championships kick off Tuesday morning at the Highwood Golf and Country Club.

Highwood G.M. Graeme Kreiner says this tournament's been a long time coming to the club.

"We were supposed to host it back in 2013, but unfortunately the events of that year didn't allow us to do so. We're looking forward to hosting some of the best lady amateurs in the province. It should be an exciting time, and we should see some really good scores."

Kreiner says they didn't have to do much to make the golf course tougher.

"We don't have much say in the hole locations, they (Alberta Golf) come and kind of give us locations where they'd like to see the holes. They've asked us not to 'trick it out' at all. We're just going to continue to maintain it and I think when the ladies from around the province get here, they're going to really enjoy what they see."

Four locals are in the field including, Jaden and MacKenzie Baustand from Cottonwood.

They're joined by Tara McWilliam from Priddis Greens and Margaux Ullet from Carnmoney.

The event runs Tuesday through Thursday.
