The River City Classics and Eamon's Garage Historical Society handed out cheques to worthy charities from money raised at the second annual Brian Chipchase Sr. Memorial Show and Shine Monday.

Seven groups shared in $18,500.

One of the recipients was the High River Handi-bus Society and vice-president Mark Podwysocki said the money will certainly come in handy.

"We're in the process of evaluating our fleet because they're getting very old, the 2017 Chevy is really getting to be on its last legs and they are expensive to maintain so we'll be putting money towards that," he says.

He says last month the Handi-bus made 494 trips while back in January it was about 350 trips, the lowest number of any month.

The Museum is in the thick of the action during the car show and they were again rewarded with a donation which curator Irene Kerr says is very helpful.

"Every year they've made a very generous donation to us and the money that we receive from the car club always goes to our school programs. We don't really believe in charging students to come and have programs at the museum," Kerr says.

Ray Bouillet with the car club says they believe in giving back to the community.

"For example, 4-H helped us out at the car show and also the burn out, we had the Mustang Club from Calgary come out to help with parking and the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society were involved in preparation and putting together the show itself," he says.
