HBO has dropped its first trailer for The Last of Us.

The series is an adaptation of the immensely popular 2013 video game and was shot across various Alberta locales in 2021 and 2022.

That includes Okotoks and High River.

Crews were in High River in July of 2021, filming mainly at night in the area of Emerson Drive and 9th Ave.

Following their time filming in High River, HBO donated $100,000 to the town for legacy kids projects.

The town put $80,000 toward the pump track, with $20,000 going to the Spitzee School playground.

They filmed in Okotoks in February and reportedly had to produce fake snow because much of it had melted during their time in town.

The Last of Us tells the story of a man who must escort a young girl through a post-apocalyptic United States infested with mutated fungus zombies.

The series stars Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) in the lead roles of Joel and Ellie.

It's set to premiere sometime in 2023.
