Magic happens when you open up a good book.

Ecole Okotoks Junior High School prepares to whisk the audience away to the world of fables and tales with their latest production The Enchanted Bookshop.

The story takes place in a quaint bookshop called "A Likely Story" which is run by an absent-minded owner Margie and her cat. When a group of smugglers venture into her sanctuary in search of a coveted stolen necklace, the characters within the pages of her shop come alive to make sure the store stays out of trouble.

Fresh off last year's run of The Hobbit, grade eight student Lorelei Davis takes on the lead role as the owner Margie. With her bubbly persona on full display on stage, she is excited for people to take in the positivity of the adventure.

"This is a really funny show and I feel like it's just so sweet. Like with all the different characters and all the book characters all together, I feel like it makes it such just like a happy place. Just come watch it because it'll make you happy."

The show runs Friday at 7 p.m. and there'll be two Saturday shows; a matinee at 1 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the head office at (403) 938-4426 or at the door.
