Dozens of locals kids and their families flocked to the Okotoks Skate Park on Friday for Skate Jam 2022.

The event was kicked off in 2019 but had to be postponed for several years because of the pandemic.

This year it was organized by a collection of youth non-profits. A collaborative team effort between the Foothills Children’s Wellness Network, Primary Care Network, Family and Community Support Services and McMan Okotoks Family Resource. A collection of networks with the goal of improving mental health in children and families.

Julia Schaffler, Youth Nav for the Foothills Child Well Network was excited to see all the groups take part.

"There's so many people involved and we're so grateful for all the different organizations in the Foothills who do support youth because we feel this is so important. Getting with out there, having fun with them and letting them know what exists out here that supports them."

Judging was held by the Compound YYC. An indoor training facility for the Riders on Board Snowboard Club.
