It's been more than half a decade since the last Fury In The Foothills event took place but it made it's return Saturday, June 15.

Volunteer Deana Schmuland says the event means a lot to the kids who participate.

"Oh the kids had a great time, they were constantly coming up to all of us and saying how much fun they were having. One mum said to me "my son said to me, Can I do this every day?" so I think lots of kids in High River love playing hockey in general and getting together, and so it was just a great day."

Schmuland says the event is basically a giant street hockey game.

"Fury In The Foothills is a street hockey tournament for all ages of kids."

Schmuland says even though it's been six years since the last one the event is still going strong.

"We had 110 kids registered in four different divisions."

Schmuland says even with 110 kids they were still short a few for a couple divisions.

"Next year we're hoping to get more kids registered under the Initiation and Bantam and Midget levels, we were short in those categories."

Schmuland says they do plan on doing the event again next year, they just need to pick a date.
