The High River Flyers fought past 60 minutes last night in Red Deer.

The battle with the Vipers would need extra time to settle the score.

Vipers sniper Tanner Scott would ultimately end up finding the game-winner in Overtime to earn the Vipers a 6-5 win.

The first period started chippy with playoff hockey just around the corner every team is gearing up and playing their best.

Five minutes into the first period Red Deer struck first scoring the opening goal to take a 1-0 lead.

A boarding call to the Vipers gave the Flyers a chance to get on the scoresheet and on a successful powerplay, Jakob Jefferies tied the game at 1-1

The Vipers would bite two more times before the end of the period taking a 3-1 lead going into the middle frame.

The Second started well for the Flyers, 16 year old Lucas Ouellette found his second goal as a Flyer to help them claw back at the Vipers lead.

Jimmy Bantugan equalized the game at 5:19 on a pass from Liam Thiessen and Michael McTighe, 3-3.

The Vipers took their 2 goal lead back on a goal from Jarvis Gaume and a powerplay goal from Rylan Burns to take a 5-3 lead.

The Flyers would end up going on another penalty kill after a crosscheck from Jake Snashall, while most penalty kills result in goals against this time Mason Hart took matters into his own hands and scored an unassisted short-handed goal to move the lead to 1, 5-4 Red Deer.

The third was nothing short of a shooting range with both teams combining for 25 shots and only a single goal.

Mason Hart found his second of the night with some help from Ryan Kanten and Logan MacLean to tie the game at 5-5.

Both teams held on to send the game to extra time.

Unfortunately, the Flyers wouldn't get any chances with 0 shots on net in the extra frame, the Vipers got a few chances and eventually grabbed the overtime winner.

The Flyers game was playoff grade in all senses of the word, battling back from two separate two-goal deficits to send the game to overtime, Mason Hart continued to play the game he's played all year long, killing penalties and even adding a huge short-handed goal to spark the second come back.
