The Calgary Flames have fired head coach Bob Hartley.

In a one line news release Tuesday morning, the club says they've relieved Hartley of his duties and informed Associate Coach Jacques Cloutier he won't be returning to the team either.

Hartley, who's been the Flames coach since 2012, guided them to a second round playoff appearance in 2014-2015, winning the Coach of the Year award.

But the Flames took a step back this past season, failing to make the playoffs.

Flames GM Brad Treliving will address the media at 10 A.M.
