Over the weekend, the "Olympics" of the FireFit world took over Founders Square at Spruce Meadows.  A perfect venue to host the best-of-the-best firefighters in our country where they host the best-of-the-best in the equine world.

The event actually started on September 14 with 3 days of wildcard qualifications.  For teams like Fort McMurray it was needed.  Since they've had a very busy year in the "real-world" fighting the fires and helping to rebuild their community, their teams didn't have time to go to regional matches, pratice or train.

It ended up being a storybook ending for the Fort McMurray team who went home with the gold medal.

It was amazing to watch the individual and team competitions.  To see them push themselves for personal goals, to compete against each other but then turnaround and cheer on and help their competitors.   I got to announcer/colour commentate the weekend along with Mike Labelle and Beesley (voice of the Flames).  We had a blast.

What was also very cool....TSN was on-hand all weekend covering the event and will air the show in November.

Congrats to ALL who came to compete and take part.  YOU ARE EVERYDAY HEROS!
