In August 1994 the first FireFit Championships took place.  Created not only to keep firefighters fit and active (with a little fun camaraderie) but also to show the public in a fun and exciting way examples of what our firefighters are faced with in their workplace.  Over 22 years later it's going strong.

This past weekend Spruce Meadows provided the venue for the FireFit Championships.  Mike Labelle and I were honoured to be the announcer team for the weekend.

This was an unbelievable weekend!! Honestly it blew my mind.  I have always been a proud supporter of our firefighters but my respect grew even more over the weekend.  It was unreal. And well I got to hang out with an amazing group firefighters!!! (you don't have to ask me twice lol)

Along with the FireFit Championships, it was a busy weekend at Spruce Meadows with the National going on and the First Responders Weekend.  It was amazing to see the tribute to all our first responders.

Thank you Cathy Couey for the pic!

A couple other highlights from the weekend for me was seeing these guys compete and demo....

These are the FireFit Legends and Antiques...they have all compted over 15 years...some since 1996.

And my other highlight...seeing HRFD Deputy Chief Trevor Allen...

A smile AND these shorts...this is a banner day with this guy! LOL

Thank you to Dale and Hillary for doing all they do for FireFit and thank you to all the amazing volunteers from the weekend and thank you Spruce Meadows for being such an amazing venue.  It was a blast and I cannot wait for the Nationals in September.  Save the dates Sept. 17-18, 2016.  Plan to bring the family out and join us for more FireFit at Spruce Meadows.
