Not much time off for the chuck drivers as they wrapped up things in Strathmore Sunday, August 7 and are now off to Dawson Creek to start racing there Wednesday, August 8.

High River's Jordie Fike says it's a long haul on a tight timeline.

"It's a long 10 hour drive with a big truck full of horses. We try to do it as fast as we can and try to beat the heat. It's going to be hot this week, so that's hard on horses too. So, we're just trying to get everybody there as comfortably as safely as we can."

Fike finished seventh in Strathmore and is hoping for even better at the "Battle of the North."

He'll be driving his own rig, plus Cliff Cunningham's again this week and for the final show in Rocky Mountain House next week.

Fike says it's a great chance to work in some of his new horses at the end of the year.
