Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau tabled his government's budget for 2019 Tuesday, March 19.

The budget shows the deficit is expected to grow to $19.8 billion for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

This is after the 2015 Liberal campaign promised 2019 would be the year we would be out of the red and into the black.

Canada's economic growth is also smaller than predicted last fall, albeit only by 0.1 per cent

It was estimated the economy would grow by 1.9 per cent but after the budget came back it's expected to only grow by 1.8 per cent

Some of the big ticket items in Tuesday budget include picking up some of the costs of a mortgage for first time home buyers and allowing Canadians to dip deeper into their RRSP's to make down payments.

They're also putting money into a national drug agency as they inch towards a pharmacare plan.

They're promising billions to dairy, egg and poultry farmers affected by new free trade agreements.

They've set aside $2.15 billion to hand out to supply managed farmers who lose income because of new trade deals with Europe and the Pacific Rim.

However the budget doesn't lay out details and how and when the money will make its way to farmers.

They're also looking at stemming the flow of asylum seekers by spending $1.8 billion to beef up border security and speed up the processing of asylum claims.

And he Liberals are also planning a new $45 million anti-racism strategy.
