For locals looking to head out to Frank Lake just east of High River, to do some bird watching, mark Monday, June 1 on your calendar.

High River bird expert Greg Wagner says that's when they plan to re-open their portion of land around the popular lake.

He says he's not sure the bird blind will be part of that opening though.

"There has been talk about pulling up the blind. I thinks that's one of the biggest concerns Ducks Unlimited has is the social distancing. And also around the blind, there's a boardwalk and a bit of a trail to get out to it, so that social distancing could be a little hard in the blind, simply because of it's popularity and because of the walk that's required to get out there."

Ducks Unlimited closed off access a couple of months ago to limit the number of people going to the lake and to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
