The 55th annual Diamond Valley parade is happening this Saturday.

While it's the 55th annual parade it will be the first under the Diamond Valley name and this year's theme is 'Amalgamation Celebration'

If you get there early enough you can enjoy a pancake breakfast hosted by teachers and students from Oilfields High School.

The breakfast kicks off at 8 a.m. and will go until 10 a.m. or until the food runs out.

Expect road closures starting at 9:30 a.m. with the parade starting at 10.

Another first is happening too, with the parade being organized by BGC Foothills, formerly the Boys and Girls Club, who will be providing free shuttle service between the two towns.

Millenium Park in Turner Valley will be celebrating Diamond Valley Day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Lots of events are planned for it including bouncy houses, a petting zoo, a dunk tank, face painting, artisan market, Lions Club barbecue, a dance party and a Jr. Firefighter Challenge.

The very family-friendly day of events also has some other events happening around town such as the annual Sheep River Library book sale, Valley Neighbours' Club plant sale and the Sheep Creek Arts Council bake sale and quilt show.
