The Okotoks Dawgs (28-18) are all set close out the regular season with a two-game set against the Lethbridge Bulls (33-13) Thursday and Friday night.

The Bulls have clinched top spot in the WMBL's Alberta Division, and hold the best record in the league.

Meanwhile, the Dawgs have clinched second place, and will face Medicine Hat in the first round of the playoffs.

Dawgs Manager Brett Thomas says a pair of games against the WMBL's best team will help his squad round into playoff form.

"Definitely going to be a good test for us," he says. "Hopefully we'll get a chance to see some good arms, and obviously we're going to have to make some pitches. So, the intensity level, I'm sure, will be up playing against Lethbridge, so we'll have to just continue to fight for the next two days and prepare ourselves for the playoffs."

Thomas says although the two games have no bearings on the standings, they won't be treated as "throw-away games."

"It's tough to travel that much that technically doesn't do anything for your standings," he says. "But, they need to understand we're obviously are going to be playing hard every day, and nothing changes, no matter what we're competing to win, and they're definitely doing that."

The Dawgs will have one day of rest on Saturday, before kicking off their first-round WMBL playoff series against Medicine Hat Sunday night at Seaman Stadium.
