The Western Canadian baseball league is growing by one team in 2021.

The Sylvan Lake Gulls will join the league in a brand new, state of the art stadium.

Looking at their plans, you can't help but notice a similarity to how the Okotoks Dawgs put their operation together.

That's something Okotoks Dawgs Managing Director, John Ircandia, says is just good thinking.

"It's not surprising to me that new franchises looking for something to model what they're doing after choose Okotoks. I'd start there too."

Ircandia, says Sylvan Lake is very similar to Okotoks in a lot of ways, which he says makes them a perfect fit.

"We've actually done studies as a league about markets that we'd like to be in. Sort of progressive, dynamic markets both in Alberta and Saskatchewan that fit into our footprint as a league. And Sylvan Lake's obviously a good one."

The new owners, will look to build a brand new stadium, similar to Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, seating about 2,200 people, with eight to 10 luxury boxes.
