A first round playoff preview Wednesday night in Medicine Hat as the Okotoks Dawgs held on for a 6-5 win over the Mavericks.

The Dawgs put up all their runs in the first four innings thanks to a big night from Brendan Hendriks, who was 2-for-5, driving in three runs.

Alex Gudac had a strong defensive outing displaying his versatilty playing second base instead of his usual centrefield he also went 2-for-3 at the plate scoring one run and driving in another

Brian Sisler added a hit and an RBI as well.

Trevor Swaney got the win after relieving starter Chris Horvath, throwing four scoreless innings

Swaney's win gives him seven on the season, tying him for the league lead alongside teammate Dylan Nelson.

Swaney also see's his ERA fall to 1.69.

Dan Grazzini followed Swaney throwing a scoreless eighth inning striking out one.

Dawgs closer Jeremy Newton got his league leading eighth save.

The Dawgs and Mavericks tee it up again Sunday and Monday back in Okotoks for games one and two of their best of five first round WMBL playoff series.

The Dawgs round out the regular season with their last two games Thursday and Friday in Lethbridge against the Bulls.
